Composer Producer Perfomer - Yvette Narlock

Raised a flower child's child in the midst of San Francisco's bohemia, Yvette had a vibrant start to a creative journey as an artist. Music guided her through her first 18 years of life. "As a kid, I remember analyzing the lyrics of Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd with my mama. It was like home schooling, you know, rock and roll 101. I went to my first concert when I was 5 on my mama's shoulders. It was Jefferson Airplane with long hair and leather at a free show in Golden Gate Park." About a 100 concerts later, Yvette, although musically charged, opted for a communications/audio engineering degree at San Francisco State University. "My mama felt let down. When I told her of my plans, she said, 'Are you sure baby, I thought you wanted to be a rock star?' "

After graduating, Yvette left on a shoestring, traveling hardcore for three years through Africa, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, China, and Europe, bringing love, music, and her distinctly female world view to different corners of the globe. She eventually parked her guitar in London and Paris. This was her first taste in steady performance and a great influence on her musical direction. As it happens, she followed her heart (well… a beautiful woman) to Vancouver, Canada where she sank her roots deep into the rich, nurturing soil. This is where she made her nest. From here, her career soared with strong support from the women's community that embraced their newest immigrant with open arms.

Playing the club circuit gained Yvette a stealthy audience of committed fans. Industry folk started taking notice and began sniffing around. She decided to start looking for partners in her one-woman musical crime. This lead to the birth of Yvette's first band, Mollies Revenge. Named in honor of hookers everywhere (Molly is old Brit slang for prostitute), Mollies Revenge began to turn their special trick. Mollies worked hard and fast, and it paid off. Within a year, they were signed to Atlantic 143 Records. After creating their first explosive album, "Every Dirty Word", and touring it all over North America, Mollies became disillusioned by the typical industry struggle. They dissolved down to their leader, Yvette, and the Mollies guitar player, Adam Popowitz, to become Yve Adam. Yve Adam created a passionate album called "Fiction" after a year of working in and out of L.A., co-writing with top notch composers like Ben Mink (k.d. lang, Ingénue), Jeremy Rezuma (Macy Grey), Steve Booker (Natalie Imbruglia) and Taylor Rhodes (Aerosmith). "It was a fantastic learning experience. It helped me to take my natural gift as a song writer and fine tune it." Yvette's endless fight with her label for integrity and truth was constant and exhausting. She was clear that her sexual identity, politics, and age would not be compromised when delivering her musical message to the world. "I didn't understand why I was signed for who I was and what I stood for, and then no sooner did the ink dry, the label wanted me to be something that I'm not. They tried to squeeze me into their mainstream formula. My whole identity was challenged, and I was pissed." Yvette and Adam quit their record deal and disbanded, but not until after they played at Lilith Fair and finished a stellar support tour with k.d.lang that left them high and inspired.

Yvette returned to her roots as a solo singer songwriter. It was a homecoming like going back to the womb where her musical seed had begun. The support has been phenomenal and the new journey begins here from a grassroots heart that sweetens the taste the corporate industry left in her mouth. With a big voice, workhorse guitars, and a traveling bone, Yvette is whole again.
